Cheek Augmentation

The purpose of this procedure is to accent the cheekbones by enlarging them or creating the appearance of high cheekbones with surgically inserted cheek implants.
A cheek augmentation is usually achieved by making an incision inside the mouth above or along the gum line where the cheek implant is then slid into place. Another less common method is to make an incision near the eye, however there is a visible scar.
The implants are typically made from a combination of silicone and ePTFE (Expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene). They come in all shapes and sizes and can further be customized based on the patient's desired outcome. These implants are soft, flexible, very strong and are held in place the patients own subcutaneous tissue and bone.
A cheek augmentation is a relatively simple procedure and the healing time is very short compared to many other cosmetic procedures, usually about 10 days.
